Sruthi;
The Beginning
Sruthi was founded in 2005, by a community from Kerala, India, living in the UK, who shared a passion for the art, literature, and culture of their heritage. Their aim was to create a platform in the UK to identify and encourage such talents, and to enable interaction with cultural figures from Kerala. Sruthi was officially inaugurated on 1 October 2005, by internationally acclaimed Malayali poet, Jnanpith recipient and Padma Vibushan, the late Prof. O.N.V. Kurup.

ശ്രുതി… കേരളീയ കലയോടും സംസ്കാരത്തോടും മലയാള ഭാഷയോടുമുള്ള അഭിനിവേശം കൊണ്ടുണ്ടായ കൂട്ടായ്മ. മലയാളത്തിന്റെ മഹാകവി ശ്രീ ഒ.എൻ.വി.കുറുപ്പിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹാശിസ്സുകളോടെ ചുവടു വച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയ ശ്രുതി 2005 മുതൽ യു.കെ.യിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.
യുകെയിൽ കുടിയേറിയ മലയാള കലാ സാഹിത്യ പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തിനും ആസ്വാദനത്തിനും വേദിയൊരുക്കുക, ഇവിടെ വളരുന്ന പുതിയ തലമുറയ്ക്ക് ഇവയിൽ താല്പര്യം നിലനിർത്താൻ അവസരമൊരുക്കുക, ഇതിലേക്കായി മലയാള കലാ സാഹിത്യ സാംസ്കാരിക പ്രമുഖരുമായി നേരിട്ട് സമ്പർക്കം പുലർത്തുക എന്നീ ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളുമായാണ് ശ്രുതി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.
ഈ സംഘടനയുടെ എഴുപതിലേറെ വരുന്ന കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങൾ ഇന്ന് യു.കെ.യുടെ എല്ലാ ഭാഗത്തുമായി പരന്നു കിടക്കുന്നു.
In the years since its inception, Sruthi has grown into a notable forum of art and culture with more than seventy member families, and is now well-known in both the UK and Kerala. Our members come from all parts of the UK – the South, Midlands, Wales, Yorkshire, the North, and Scotland.
Sruthi’s Annual Day event receives great acclaim, and is keenly attended by lovers of art, literature and culture from across the UK. The keynote address and performance from the guest(s), pre-eminent in their field, are the highlights of the event. Sruthi members spend several weekends in the run-up to the event, rehearsing carefully selected and crafted dance, music and drama pieces, before they are staged in front of a fascinated audience. Later in the autumn, the Annual General Body Meeting also provides an opportunity for our emerging talents to showcase their skills, and receive support and mentorship from our senior members. Sruthi publishes an annual magazine, Sruthirekha, with themed editions each year.
