Sri V. Madhusoodanan Nair
Sri V. Madhusoodanan Nair is one of the poets who helped to popularise poetry amongst the general public, especially to the young generation, through his heartfelt recitations at college campuses across Kerala. His most iconic works, “Naranathu Bhranthan” and “Agasthyhrudayam”, have been recited on countless stages over several decades. He has been awarded the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award, the Kunchupilla Award and the K. Balakrishnan Award.
Programme of Events
- An array of Dances- Traditional, classical, folk and spectacular blends- Choreographed by Dr. Mayadevi Kurup.
- Ganesasthuthi: A beautiful Mohiniyattam recital invoking Lord Ganesha.
- Bhavani Ashtakam: An enchanting blend of Indian Classical dance forms set to a divine musical interpretation of the traditional sacred chant by Sri Steven Devassy.
- Folk Dance: Written by Sri O. N. V. Kurup, with music by Sri M. G. Radhakrishnan, this folk dance depicts the monthly festivities and seasonal changes of Kerala.
- Dandia: A north Indian Dance form. An enjoyable ensemble of swift and lively Dandia movements set to the melodious song “Shyam Rang” sung by Sri K. J. Yesudas.
- Mukhamukham - Interview and recital of celebrated poems Naranathu Bhranthan and Vakku by the Chief Guest.
- Singapore Kalyanam - Drama based on a short story by V. K. N.
- Aattavilakku - Skit
- Kavyanjali - A musical medley of poems and folk songs by Sruthi musicians.
- Ganamela - A musical programme blending classical ragas and film music, based on the four popular Carnatic Ragas.
