Chief Guests

Sri O. N. V. Kurup

One of the greatest poets of our time, Sri O. N. V. Kurup has won numerous prestigious awards in his literary career spanning over seven decades. These include the Jnanpith Award, the highest literary honour of India, and Padmavibhushan, the second highest civilian honour of the country. A progressive writer, his career evidences his development from a socialist to a humanist, never losing his commitment to the ideology in which he found his roots. A father figure to Sruthi and those within our organisation, this Annual Day was a time to celebrate this beloved poet’s achievements.

Smt Aparna Rajeev, a celebrated playback singer, led a Ganamela composed of the gems from O. N. V’s lyrics.

Programme of Events

  • Kavyadrishyangal – Dance programme - A choreographic interpretation of women and nature in ONV poems.
  • Varika Gandharvagaayaka Veendum - A short musical by Sruthi, taking a quizzical look at contemporary life and incorporating those nostalgic ONV songs.
  • Aatmaavil Muttivilichathu Pole: An informal discussion and poetry session with ONV.
  • Manikyaveena: Ganamela led by Smt Aparna Rajeev featuring some of the best Malayali singing talents in the UK, and O. N. V’s beautiful lyrics, accompanied by a live orchestra, Rainbow Ragas.
