Sri M. T. Vasudevan Nair

Popularly known as MT, Sri Vasudevan Nair is one of the most prolific writers of Malayalam literature. His novels such as “Nalukettu”, “Kaalam”, “Asuravithu” and many of his short stories chronicled the dissolving family structures in the backdrop of social changes in the post independent Kerala. The novel "Randamoozham", considered as his masterpiece presented the story of the Mahabharatam through the eyes of Bheema, the second Pandava. He has received various awards including the Kerala and Kendra Sahithya Academy award, Vayalar Award, Jnanapith Award, Padmabhushan and Ezhuthachan Puraskaram. He has written screenplays for numerous films, many of which won state and national awards. He directed a few films which won awards and critical acclaim.

Programme of Events

  • Kalathinte Nizhalpadukal - Sruthi’s tribute to the master storyteller of our century: a programme blending drama, music, dance, light, and sound, based on MT’s works and characters. A unique experiment with theatre in which MT’s characters come to life again in all their complexity.
  • Chilanka Charthum Chithrangal - A dance programme based on Raja Ravi Varma’s paintings, depicting the magical quality of his epic heroines as they are brought to life by Sruthi dancers, who unravel their nuance through the medium of dance.
  • Dasavatharam – A spiritual journey, depicting the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu, weaving together different dance forms of India with music from across the world.
  • Devasangeetham - A musical tribute to MT, based on songs from his films, taking listeners on a trip down memory lane.
