Sri M. Mukundan is a novelist of great significance in the field of Malayalam literature, pioneering the contemporary style of fiction alongside his contemporaries O. V. Vijayan and Anand. His early novels were inspired by his life in Delhi, but the story of his homeland Mayyazhi (Mahé) brought him the greatest acclaim.
