Chief Guests

Sri K P Udayabhanu

Sri K. P. Udayabhanu represents the golden age of Malayalam films and film songs. He is the king of melody and mood. He started his film career at the young age of 19. Sri Udayabhanu’s unique voice and his ability to portray emotions especially pathos won him a special seat in the hearts of Malayalis. The most popular of his songs were composed by K. Raghavan master and the illustrious Sri M. S. Baburaj. He has rendered music for many films, dramas and albums. Simplicity is the hallmark of his songs and they have been bestowed with enduring celebrity.

Sri Balachandran Chullikkad

Arguably the most distinct voice heard in Malayalam poetry in modern times, ‘Chullikkad poetry’ in the seventies took the then rather conservative Malayali literary world by storm. The highly emotive words and fiery lines in his poems created shockwaves in the society and elevated its young author to cult status especially in college campuses across the State. Yesterday’s angry young poet has become older and mellower. His words have become more introspective and philosophical. But he continues to reflect pure angst in his words, be it poetry, prose or social criticism.
